Service Description
Course Description This two day, hands on course teaches practical ballistics, data driven range craft, and precision engagement workflows for scoped rifles. Through classroom instruction and extensive live fire practice, students learn to use weather stations and ballistic calculators, confirm and maintain zero, gather and record range data, read wind, and execute spotter shooter teamwork from 100 yards out to extended distances as range conditions allow. Who it’s for Designed for precision rifle shooters who already understand basic marksmanship and safe rifle manipulation and who want to develop skills, and consistent long range performance. Bring a scoped rifle suited to extended range work and be prepared to record detailed data. What you’ll learn • Core ballistics: MOA vs. MIL, hold vs. dial, spin drift, aeronautic jump, Coriolis, and muzzle velocity influences • Environmental effects and density altitude basics (temperature, pressure, humidity) and practical wind estimation (mirage, observation, angle methods) • Ballistic calculator setup and use: device navigation, gun files, environmental inputs, range cards, and target management • Data book discipline: recording zeroes, corrections, wind calls, and making repeatable entries for future use • Spotter fundamentals: observing trace, calling hits/misses, concise shooter communication, and critical observation techniques • Progressive live fire: cold bore/confirmation groups, zero verification at 100/200/300 yards, then team spotter/shooter engagements at 400–1000+ yards (site permitting) Format & requirements • Two full days combining classroom presentations and extensive live fire range work. Ammunition and target quantities depend on range plan and student gear. • Required equipment: precision scoped rifle, magazines, spotting optic/binoculars, Kestrel or equivalent range data device (recommended), data book/notebook, sling, eye/ear protection, sturdy clothing/footwear, hydration. Outcomes Graduates will be able to confirm and maintain reliable zeros, use environmental data to generate accurate firing solutions, apply wind calls and corrections, and work effectively in shooter/spotter teams to engage targets at extended ranges. Emphasis on data recording and repeatable processes ensures students leave with practical skills they can apply immediately on the range. Class size is limited to ensure focused coaching and safety oversight. Contact us for dates, gear recommendations.
